Kaeding scores historic MSTS 410 win in Huron

Tim Kaeding took the win in Saturday’s inaugural event for the ACS Roofing, Westover Masonry Midwest 410 Sprint Touring Series powered by Cressman Sanitation. Kaeding was the third different driver to lead the main event that left Huron buzzing with sprint car excitement.

Ryan Bickett opened up the 20-lap main event using a great start and turn one move to take the initial lead. He paced the field through the opening seven laps. The race took a dramatic turn on lap seven when Kevin Ingle’s top-five run came to an end. Ingle, whose race shop is just blocks from the Dakota State Fair Speedway, clipped the inside of the track exiting turn four which upset the car’s suspension. Ingle wrestled the car to keep it under control, but the Terwilliger Electric #2K made contact with the wall and come to a stop, too damaged to continue.

During that caution period, Scott Bogucki was rolling around the higher line of the track. That was a calculated move as the Australian driver of the South Dakota based Liebig Motorsports #10 went to that high line when racing resumed. Bogucki picked his way forward and passed both Mark Dobmeier and Bickett to take the lead on lap ten.

The shake-up at the front of the field got even more exciting as Kaeding picked his way up to the second-place position when the leaders worked traffic on lap 14. That is when the Lunstra Motorsports #3 driver would see his opportunity in turn one. He’d make the move and grab the lead. From there, it was all Kaeding who took the win by 3.5 seconds.

Behind Kaeding and Bogucki at the checkered was Dobmeier. Tim Estensen and Scott Winters each made a late-race charge to place fourth and fifth respectively.

Ingle and Dobmeier each won a GRP Motorsports heat race. Ingle collected $100 with the A+ Towing and Repair Hard Luck award. Luke Nellis pocketed $100 as the Cressman Sanitation Hard Charger. Colin Smith won $100 as the winner of the ACS Roofing random draw.
